About
The digital revolution has dramatically changed the way we think, communicate and interact. New technologies demand new ways of thinking and creating. Union’s Digital Media Studies (DMS) is a unique program that will prepare you to become a marketable digital media specialist who can step into a variety of positions and circumstances to provide leadership. Because the digital media landscape is constantly changing, our program strives to teach you how to adapt to new technologies by understanding the processes behind the development of digital media.

The Digital Media Studies major is an interdisciplinary program joining Art, Communication Arts, and Computer Science. Its purpose is to produce a student that is aesthetically, theoretically, and technologically trained and capable of excellence in the relatively new area of the design, production, and implementation of digital media. Students majoring in Digital Media Studies will take a variety of classes in Art, Communication Arts and Computer Science departments, providing a broad understanding of the whole of digital media development. Students then further emphasize in one of the three areas, depending on their passions and giftedness.
All DMS students take the following courses:
DMS 190 DMS Freshman Seminar
CSC 115 Computer Science I
